The Swiss Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SAPhS) represents the pharmaceutical expertise of Switzerland through its individual members as well as through the collective members of the pharmacy departments at the Universities of Basel, Bern, Geneva, and ETH Zurich, and the professional associations of community, hospital, and industrial pharmacists. The Academy is therefore the central scientific point of contact for all matters related to pharmaceuticals.

The Academy aims to serve as a link between the pharmaceutical industry, pharmacists, universities, and federal agencies.

The Academy forms the root system of pharmaceutical sciences, intended to nourish all branches of pharmaceutical practice with research, education, teaching, excellence, innovation, ethics, and curiosity. Over the past 40 years, community pharmacy has evolved from a manufacturer, supplier, and distributor of medicines into a provider of healthcare services and an indispensable player in primary care and prevention. It urgently requires strong scientific support from the Academy in order to continuously deliver more effective, appropriate, and cost-efficient services within an interprofessional framework.
